Two-minute review
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is a sequel to one of our favorite mice of all time, and this is the first time in a while we have seen the company Embrace Wear Software. This is not your typical wear wear watch, however; This is called a user interface watch 3, and it was built by Samsung with Google’s help.
On paper, the global upgrade is limited, but the watch 4 is suitable for anyone looking for a smartWatch Top-Range that can follow the workouts and offer many other intelligent features that many alternative wrist companions can not not.
That said, Galaxy Watch 4 compatibility is not as varied as earlier Samsung watches. If you have an iPhone, it will not work with it and, although it is compatible with all modern Android phones, you will need to own a Samsung smartphone to access certain features, such as blood pressure or monitoring of Body composition.
This is probably a disappointment of several because the previous mice of Samsung are among the best in terms of compatibility. We always say that the watch 4 is worth having if you have an Android non-Samsung phone, but you should note that there are limitations.
There is a virtual rotating bezel – a return functionality of the Samsung Galaxy Active 2 – which, in conjunction with two buttons on the right side, allows easy navigation around SmartWatch menus. Some may miss the physical swiveling glasses of the Galaxy 4 watch, but it’s a good alternative.
Fitness features are not extremely different from what we have seen before, but there is a new body composition tool that gives you an approximate idea of your body fat percentage. We found that GPS, heart rate monitoring and other fitness features are well thought out on the Galaxy 4 watch.
The life of the battery is not a huge concern on the watch 4, but it is not the longest durable SmartWatch we have ever seen. This will last about two days with normal intensive use and about three days if you do not work or use features such as GPS.
Introduced next to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, Watch 4 Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic – You need to review this SmartWatch if you want a physical swivel telescope, which is the major difference between the two devices.
As for the Galaxy Watch 4, this SmartWatch is an excellent choice for anyone with a Galaxy smartphone. If you have a different Android phone, it is always a choice worthy of your next SmartWatch, but there are warnings around the features mentioned above.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Release Date and Prices
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is ready for pre-order now in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. The United States and the United Kingdom will be able to buy the watch on August 26, while Australia will get it on September 10th.
That said, some reported having received their devices earlier than that in the United Kingdom. If you have already pre-ordered, you may find it happens earlier than originally planned.
There are two sizes of the Galaxy watch 4. The 40 mm version smaller costs $ 249.99 / £ 249/399 £ for the Bluetooth version, while the LTE version costs $ 299.99 / £ 289 £ / 499 / 499 £.
If you like a larger watch, the 44 mm model costs $ 279.99 / £ 269 (about 500 CAD) in its Bluetooth form and $ 329.99 / £ 309 (about 580 AU $) for 4G variant. It’s much cheaper than the Galaxy Watch 3, but it’s because this unit is widely replaced for the active Galaxy watch 2.
If you want a bigger smartwatch with a physical rotation glasses, you will want to opt for the classic Galaxy 4 watch. It is a range of separate products this year, although many specifications are similar between this device and it.
The classic 42mm classic 42mm watch is $ 349 / £ 349/549 for the Bluetooth model and $ 399/389 £ / 649 £ for the LTE model. The 46mm model comes in a Bluetooth version for $ 379/369 £ / $ 599, or a LTE variant at $ 429/409 £ / 699 CA $.
Design and display
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is a SmartWatch Slimline with a design that is comfortably on your wrist. If you are looking for something a touch chunkier, or if you want a rotating bezel, you must opt for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.
For those looking for a thinner design, the Galaxy 4 watch offers that with two buttons on the right edge and little else to harm its elegant looks. It comes into two models, one with a watch watch of 40 mm and another with a body of 44 mm.
Both models are aluminum. The dimensions of the 40mm model are 40.4 x 39.3 x 9.8 mm with a weight of 25.9 g, while the 44 mm is 44.4 x 43.3 x 9.8 mm and weighs 30 , 3 g.
We brought both models and we found that both being a comfortable fit without weighing our wrist.
We used the 44 mm model for a longer period than the smaller model, and we found that it was an appropriate size(note that this writer is an adult man). It’s comfortable to wear throughout the day, although it may not be the best fit to wear the night for sleeping.
The screens of the two Galaxy Watch 4 models look bright and we found them easy to read. The resolution is also impressive, the 40 mm watch comprising a resolution of 396 x 396 and the 44 mm model that takes up to 450 x 450. It is 330 pixels per inch for both models.
A unique feature of the Galaxy 4 watch compared to other smartwatches is its “virtual” rotating bezel function. There is no physical rotation window here – go for the classic watch if it’s a feature you want – but you can run your finger around the black glasses of the screen to rotate the menus and Access different features.
Each model is also water and dust resistant IP68, which means you can take them into water up to five meters deep. A word on the surveillance band provided, however – it is made of a new material that might not manage intense workouts, because we found it to have left something from a rash on our wrist.
You may want to invest in a group made from different materials if you regularly wear your watch at the gym.
Color options vary between models, too. The 40 mm 4 watch comes in black, gold and silver, while the 44 mm model comes in black, green and silver. All these colors are relatively deaf, you may want to buy another strap if you want a more bold shade on your wrist.
Performance and software
Watch 4 has Samsung’s own Exynos W920 chipset and 1.5 GB of RAM. Throughout our test time, we found that this is enough to manage a variety of applications without any slowdown. This is one of the fastest smartwatches we have ever used.
This speed is not as noticeable as it can be on a smartphone or laptop, but it is noticeable compared to other smartwatches and allows you to use a variety of applications while GPS functionality work, for example.
There are 16 GB of storage on the two models of the Galaxy Watch 4. We found that about 8 GB of this was adopted with OS and preloaded applications, which leaves you with the same thing for your own applications and Your music.
Its software is where the Galaxy 4 watch shines. Samsung does not use its own Tizen Wearable software here, and is both recruiting Google’s operating system, although its own rotation.
You have forgotten to be confused here. Tizen has been at the center of Samsung’s software efforts in recent years and the software running on the Galaxy Watch 4 seems similar to this one.
Instead, it is the wear of the operating system 3 but with the skin of Samsung, called a Watch UI 3, on the top. It includes a variety of Samsung applications that you will be used to if you have ever had a Galaxy watch, but it mainly has an operating system.
This means that you have access to the Google Play Store and, while Wear OS is not the best platform support for wise applications, you have more / many more / all options you have on Tizen. The design, meanwhile, always feels distinctly Samsung.
The software on Galaxy Watch 4 looks good and works properly, the more you find that all applications available on Google Play Store are ready and wait. It’s a better solution than Tizen, but it retains all the benefits that made Tizen awesome software.
Aptitude
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 comes with a multitude of health and fitness features, including GPS to track races, an optical heart rate sensor and an ECG support.
The big fitness changes are in the form of a new bioactive sensor 3 in 1 that allows the watch to monitor the heart rate, blood oxygen levels and body composition. The last one in this list is the only new feature, but this is the first time that the sensors have been combined.
Samsung states that its tool composition measurement tools allow you to see key fitness indicators such as skeletal muscle mass and the percentage of body fat. These analyzes are easy to run, although you need to stay motionless for them to work.
The statistics you will get included a body fat percentage score, a skeletal muscle, a fat, body water and IMC. This will also give you an approximate idea of the healthy range for your gender, weight and size.
It’s hard to say how specific these different metrics are, but we have noticed useful to have at least one rough idea of them, and you can follow them over a period of time to find out if you can improve the results.
The heart rate monitor has proven precisely, with our outcomes that are unleashed with measures taken with other devices. The heart rate monitor that works best in Samsung’s own applications, but you can also apply these features to third-party OS Wear tools like Strava and Nike Tennis Club.
We also found that GPS features worked well when we took the watch with specific positioning compared to other devices.
One important thing to note is the limited compatibility of many fitness features. ECG, the surveillance of blood pressure and body composition tools are only available when you connect the Galaxy Watch 4 to a Samsung smartphone.
It’s a frustrating element, and that means this watch may not be the best choice for you if you do not have a Samsung phone. Alternative devices of brands such as Garmin offer similar characteristics, but in any phone.
Battery life
Advertising
The 44mm Galaxy See 4, which is the model we reviewed, is powered by a 361mah battery, and the battery life has proved strong during our test time – we found the SmartWatch would last at least two days to From a single load even with intensive use, and if you do not regularly use fitness features, you can expect that the watch hard for three complets.
The 40mm version comes with a smaller 247 mAh cell and we still need to be able to test your performance. Our experience with the previous Samsung Smartwatches has seen a slight difference in battery life between the smaller and larger model, but you should not expect the 40 mm variant to be dramatically different.
There is a load buffer included in the box, which is a little surprised that Samsung dropped it from its smartphones in recent years. That said, you simply get the cable here, so you will need to find a charging block or plug it directly into a USB compatible device.
