A redditor who uses the name “Buba447” has recently shared one of the most unique Raspberry Pi projects that we see briefly: the television miniature version of the Simpsons animated sitcom. This is more than just a model, mind, offering user access on request to a random episode of the hit series.
Miniature Simpsons TV, which is a DIY project that has nothing to do with Disney, was made using popular 3D Pro 3D printers, and PI raspberry and several other components. The end result is retro purple TV – the same you see in Simpsons intro – with functional buttons.
The top knob turns on the TV when pressed, while the bottom button can be played to adjust the volume. The TV project has a small default speaker, a 640 x 480 TFT screen, and offers “classic always-on” experience, according to the creator.
To play videos, raspberry-based TV projects display the compressed episode of the series loaded on flash storage. This episode continues to play when the TV is dead, it means when you turn it back, you will be a further duration to the episode – the same as turning off the TV with a basic cable.
Buba447 detailed the process of making TV, including hardware and software used, in comment on their Reddit post. Descriptions may not be enough for amateurs to replicate, but in the end the item is not too difficult to do if you have a 3D printer.
