Microsoft is working on a new but welcome upgrade for collaborative platform teams that will improve the user experience at large-scale meetings.
According to a new entry of the product roadmap, the Microsoft Teams Gallery mode (which displays the screen participants in a three-rack grid) will soon benefit from the pagination.
“When you are with a view to the gallery and there are more nine videos, navigation controls will appear under the gallery. You can use these controls to see more video participants, “explains the entry.
The new feature is still under development for the moment, but should deploy all users in September.
Microsoft team update
Since earlier this year, Microsoft Teams has allowed 49 participants to appear on the screen at once via a mode called large view.
Although fun to play with, the novelty of the great map of the Gallery wears out quickly, because the real estate buffer real estate offered to each person makes readability a problem without a large high monitor.
With the new paging feature for the regular Gallery view, however, Microsoft has the last time the users are to choose which other participants appear on the screen, without compromising the visualization experience.
Certainly, the view of the nine-people gallery is likely to be sufficient for most regular meetings, which means that pagination does not come into effect all that often. But for the department and business sessions or other large-scale meetings, the possibility of rebounding on the pages of the participants to check which is presumed will probably be useful.
In the future, we can imagine that video conference companies move to a system in which the grid can be reorganized with a simple drag-and-drop mechanics. But for now, a TEAMS Gallery mode upgrade will suffice.
