The Commons and Samsung Project Foundation have teamed up to bring Covid-19 vaccination information to Galaxy smartphones via Samsung Pay. The system requires users to connect the account of their vaccine provider with the CommonHealth application of the Foundation, which then connects to Samsung Pay on the user’s phone.
An increasing number of companies, sites and employers require proof of Covid-19 vaccination for everything from the dinner of indoor to return to the office. Despite the technology all around us, proof of vaccination is quite rudimentary: it is in the form of a paper card that serves as a vaccination record.
This is a problem because, well, the paper is easy to lose or destroy. “Passport” applications of the vaccination “passport” proved a controversial manner, but finally very convenient to transport proof of vaccination, allowing individuals vaccinated to show test results, a vaccination status and more than use their phone.
CommonHealth is a mobile application of the Foundation of Communication Projects that allows users to easily create links easily to their various health care providers, pharmacies and the like. By linking these accounts with the application, comments can display items like vaccination records and more on the patient’s phone.
In an announcement today, the Foundation revealed that its application of CommonHealth will get an integration with Samsung Pay that will allow Galaxy Smartphone owners to store a verified digital version of their Covid-19 vaccination record. The content can also be displayed as a QR code for quick scanning in destinations that support technology.
The functionality moves to all phones with Samsung Pay Support over the next two weeks.
