A new Twitter test will finally allow users to report “misleading” tweets. The company says it tests the functionality of “some people” in the United States, South Korea and Australia. Although only an experience, it is an important step for Twitter, which had previously had limited reporting tools for misinformation.
With change, however, users will now be able to report political and health disinformation, with subcategories for the related tweets of elections and COVID-19, depending on the edge. This follows with another verification of facts and efforts to misinformation of the Twitter strike efforts made during the past year and one half. The company has already introduced labels and PSAs to do the disinformation of health and elections on its platform.
For the moment, it is not clear how much the tweets will be manipulated. Unlike Facebook, which uses a large network of fact auditors to reduce lies, Twitter’s facts control initiatives have been increasingly concentrated. In a tweet, the company said that users should not expect the company to respond all reports, but reports will help us identify trends so we can improve the speed and magnitude of our larger misinformation work. “
